Strategic Support
Client: LaptopLane/Aerzone Business Centers
Project: On-site, part-time executive level human resources support to a business in transition
Company Type: Specialty Retail
This airport-based national provider of business office services was in the process of being realigned and sold when they contacted HRSI. As a specialty-retailer with over 150 employees and 30 retail stores, they had no on-site human resources experience and a great deal of work to do to prepare for the sale and transition of their business.
HRSI's on-site consultant provided a strategic level of support as an interim member of their senior management team. In just a few months, our consultant worked to streamline their business model and applicable staffing needs; manage the downsizing efforts of a significant portion of their workforce; develop an employee and manager resource toolkit to drive consistency across the business; and competitively benchmark their compensation programs to ensure retention of key players during the transition of the business.
Laptop Lane's management team believes that their success has significantly impacted by the involvement and partnership of the consultant who supported the business through a significant transition.
Legal and Compliance
Client: Co-Steel Lasco
Project: Employee Policy Manual Development and Update
Company Type: Canadian-based Steel manufacturer with US plant locations
In the process of expanding their business, Toronto-based Co-Steel purchased operations in the United States. As a result of the acquisition, Co-Steel now had to deal with different labor laws, regulations and benefit programs across their business units without any HR staff in the US. They were concerned about ensuring consistent treatment across their organization and wanted, wherever possible, to have policies and guidelines that worked effectively across country borders.
As a client with both represented (union) and non-represented employees, the challenge for HRSI was to ensure consistency, compliance and clarity for all employees across all job categories at Co-Steel.
HRSI was able to complete this extensive project in record time, at less than half the price quoted to Co-Steel by another consulting firm.
Recruiting Program Management
Client: Starbucks Corporation
Project: Program Management for Executive-level Recruiting in the Chief Marketing Officer's organization
Company Type: Worldwide Retail
The Starbucks management team contacted HRSI to supplement the efforts of their existing HR/Recruiting teams. As a new member of the executive team, the Chief Marketing Officer was ready to build out her extended team with experienced marketing professionals.
Our on-site, experienced recruiting program manager was ready to work within two weeks of initial contact with the consulting management team. Her role was critical to helping build a successful management team and she integrated into the existing structure of the organization while helping them maintain the level of flexibility they needed.
